A tragedy

I'd like to direct everyone to innerbrat's lovely post on the murder of George Tiller. As you may have guessed, I am very pro choice, but even if I was not, this would still be a horrible tragedy.

It makes me sick, the willful ignorance and hypocrisy of these people. And those internet trolls calling Tiller a murderer and saying he deserved what he got? You almost as bad as the murderer. You are spreading hate, and misinformation and lies. You are compounding a families grief, claiming to support life while you support the taking of it. Your religion is not excuse. People who do not believe what you believe are not worthless. Any God who supports an act of violence like this is not worthy of being worshipped, and I wouldn't care if I really were to burn in hell for saying that. I have a right to my body, my choice and my life, and so did Tiller.

A family is without a father. Women (and their fetuses, believe it or not, by extension) are dying every day because they aren't able to get the services of people like Tiller, because of terrorism like this.

Rest in peace, Dr. George Tiller. You performed a great service, and you will be remembered.

This is absolutely nauseating. Killing a human being because they provided late-term abortions is disgusting.

Well said. I've been meaning to post about this too. One of my favourite feminist/political bloggers is calling his killers the American Taliban.

I posted a bit about this on my non-comics blog. With liberal quotes from George Carlin about the "pro-life" movement and my own questions on just how the hell the individual words of the phrase "good Christian soldier" apply to anyone who would shoot an unarmed man in front of his family inside a house of worship?

I tried to look up any news articles on Dr. Tiller and just a little warning to everyone - I have a strong suspicion that all news sites with information about the killing are being targeted by fanatical groups and their hackers. All MSN articles are disabled, a local paper's website tried to upload a file to my computer. It isn't a far stretch to think that any group that condones murder will also have computer savvy workers to qwell the passage of information or to target any other people sounding off against their cause.

It's a terrible world we live in. Be careful out there.
