Sorry about that freakout last night ladies and gents- the news was just very unexpected, and you know how I get about Steph...
It really torques me off that it appears Chuck didn't leave but someone forced him too. Short of mooning DC, I don't think he could have done anything to deserve that (some people are all "oh the liberal thought police got on him because of his views!" Right. DC was never very liberal, and they wouldn't have hired Dixon in the first place if they were afraid of that little snafu. DC doesn't give a crap about a writers politics. Which, for the record, I VEHEMENTLY disagree with said views, but still like Chuck as a writer, especially since they rarely poke through his work [Sometimes they do, though, but more subtly than most at least *sigh*])
Now, let's pretend my opinion matters and say the only people I would trust to write Robin and/or a Spoiler mini (Do you think that will get canned or someone else will write it?) besides Dixon:
People I would absolutely trust
Jon Lewis
Kelley Puckett
Anderson Gabrych
People I might trust
Peter Tomasi
Brandon Thomas
People who I would trust but would never do either title except in my wildest dreams
Gail Simone
If these people get the title I will cry and listen to emo music
Adam Beechen
Frank Tieri
Judd Winick
Sean Mckeever
...My emo list is longer than any of my others. :(
Okay, lets get onto reviews.
*Sigh*
Wonder Woman #21:
A home run, as usual. I heart Gail's Wondy so. I love her outfits too. I also love Aaron Lopresti's art, the giant Gorilla's, Nemesis referencing Schoolhouse Rock, swordfights, "We prefer to be called trollops, Diana finally being called on abandoning her gods, giant clam vehicles, Alkyone apparently alive and she killed a giant shark (megadon. Or whatever), More Hyppy and the whole epic feel to the arc in general.
I just love this book.
...Did anyone else get a Babs vibe from that oracle lady? Red hair and can't use her legs?
And of course they called her the Oracle.

Okay, I have to admit it, that last scene was totally gay and I loved it.
I MEAN COME ON THEY WERE LOOKING LIKE THAT AT EACH OTHER THRU THE GLASS LIKE THAT....usually I don't go for subtext in everything and turning friendships into romantic relationships unless they're otherwise hinted at...however, Ted and Mike are an exception after this scene. I won't dwell on it too much though.
(I also want Babs and Dinah to get together solely so Dinah can not be Ollie's sidekick anymore)
(Other than that, I never ship unless the relationship is established in canon)
Also, Ted stepped on Mr. Mind. That is hilarious. Mr. Mind was unexpected too. I liked the whiteout effect in the last few pages.
And the scarab appearing out of nowhere makes me think it's not quite over...because the cliched "I must die" ticks me off, it it wasn't over it would save it from being cliched, please don't be over...

Gotham Underground
Huh.
I like Frank Tieri's Penguin.
And his Riddler.
WEIRD.
Maybe he should just do a series called "The Amazing Adventures of Ozzie and Eddie" and there are no other characters and it is just the Penguin and Riddler getting drunk and recounting old tales of silly villainy.
Because that's the only thing I'd ever buy again written by him.
Why did the Spoiler leave a note saying she was sorry to the Penguin? How does any of this fit into continuity? NO SENSE IT MAKES.
Though Robin's note was kind of cute, but Jim Gordon was so OOC it didn't matter.
Well. It's over.
And now he's going to write Outsiders. *head desk*

Huntress Year One #3
This is so awesome. Yay, Sal is alive! Yay, more overt feminism! And the art remains beautiful. I really like the little flashback panels, like when Helena hugged Sal. And "I need to be dressed to kill." Oh Helena. You rock.
Ivory Madison needs a Huntress ongoing. Like now. She is perfect for Helena.

Teen Titans Go #55
The final issue, that is so sa- HOLY SHIT WHAT IS MY LETTER DOING IN THAT LETTER COLUMN.
I WROTE THAT SIX MONTHS AGO THE FIRST TIME TTG WAS THREATENED WITH CANCELLATION.
Hey, they only printed part of it. The semi sarcastic part. So it sounds like I'm serious when I say if TTG is canceled all hope is lost. In fact I sound really whiny.
Let's see if the whole thing is still on my hard drive...
....GodDAMN I wrote a lot of letters to DC about TTG. They must have though I was friggin' INSANE. Which I am. The only one I didn't appear to save (or I just can't find it) was the one I wrote to Johnny DC.
So you'll just have to trust me when I say it's not as pathetic as I sound.
Johnny DC replies that he is sorry, and publishing the comic just doesn't make sense and I should read Tiny Titans (NO. Not unless there is a tiny Spoiler. Then you will have won me over) or Robin (Already do. Though I would like some STABILITY in the writers PLEASE) or regular Teen Titans (Hahahahaha NO) and I could soothe my broken comic book heart by writing my own comic.
...FINE THEN.
Actually, it was pretty nice. You could tell he was sorry the comic was canceled.
Onto the actual issue, which was really good and made me sadder it was the last. I seriously did not guess Phobia was behind everything until we got to the splash that had everything in dream bubbles and I was like "Waitwait Torres said in an interview he was going to use Phobia..."
BB's and Starfire's phobias were really sad, especially the way BB was all like "...Mom?" to Rita. And "Don't you guys leave me TOO!" And Starfire's whole "I AM NOT going to get captured by the Gordanians again"
And poor Robin, so completely lost without his fellow team mates.
BUT SILKIE THE SILKWORM SAVES THE DAY! No really he does. That's what's so awesome about TTG.
Especially the way Starfire waved Silkie on the screen!
Robin: We "fear" your plans have been foiled.
Starfire: By my adorable bumgorf! Hee Hee!
Brotherhood of Evil: ....
And then the kids reassure each other. And unlike the (ugh) current Titans book, you really believe these kids are family and love each other. Like Raven's playful ribbing of Beast Boy
Raven: No, Trigon the Terrible is not returning. The only terror we have to worry about here is the green one.
Beast Boy: Hey, take that back or I won't invite you to the Dayton barbeque!
See, Judd Winick? If you're trying to imitate animated Raven, get that she actually likes her friends, and just happens to have a dry wit. Pleezthnx. It's clear when she teases BB here she's doing it out of fun, and she really does consider him her friend.
Aw, TTG. The show you're based is what got me into comics, and both it and this comic were of top quality. I'll miss you. *sniff*

Wow.
Wonder Woman was freakin' amazing.
I mean, I've been thinking about how I would produce a Wonder Woman movie. I mean, Batman in detective noir. Superman is sci-fi. Wonder Woman is total, epic, mythology. Wonder Woman fights GODS. Wonder Woman's mission is to end WAR. For like, ever. And the best writer will make us believe, that yes, she will do that someday.
What they need to make a good movie is a writer who will screw the cheesecake and really focus on that. Don't waste too much time on her origin. Write from character, but on an epic scale.
Gail Simone should write a Wonder Woman movie. Because she totally gets that aspect of the character.
Because apparently Wonder Woman's new mission is to kill the devil. And Gail makes me believe that this means...the devil is screwed.
There were many amazing things in this issue. My favorite had to be the scene with the wolves. It was so sad, and it showcase Wondy's compassion. I nearly teared up when she put her hand on it's forehead and it calmed down and we heard it's inner thoughts of PAINPAINPAIN.
We also get an awesome costume, a promise of a forthcoming explanation of why the Avatar of Truth is working a job based on deception, a Beowulf team up, Etta Candy being badass and funny, and a reference to when Diana worked at Taco Whiz. What more could youwant?
The art was great, but Etta Candy was too freakin' THIN. Give the woman some meat, dammit. And one shot had Diana Wundie's not completely covering her ass. But it was totally non-sexualized and beautiful otherwise.

Huntress Year One
This was amazing and the are was gorgeous and dark, which totally fit Helena. The writing was dark and really fit, too. I'm very glad we have another female writer breaking into the biz, and one that so far, seems to be excellent and *gasp* a feminist! In her interview she said she expressly told the artist "no sexay poses for no reason pleez" and this book had a very feminist undertone. I especially liked the scene where they were discussing the difference between actress and actor, and she says to her surrogate brother "A heroine is someone who gets saved by the hero....I don't want to be heroine. I want to be a hero, like you." And then when she saves Salvatore from the boor (with her crossbow and knife!) he says "Helena, you're the best hunter I've ever seen." And she says sarcastically "That's Huntress, Sal." and he says "Huntress, you're my hero."
Awww. Best origin for superhero name ever!

JLI reunion! Admittedly, this seems to be going more and more towards "Ted must die for the timeline" which is SO boring, and it wasn't as good as it could've been, but for the moment, it's really fun. Dr. Light totally killed Max and nobody got on HER about morals this time, though. Why? Because MAX MURDERED LOIS FOR REALS! But it was still badass.

You know, if I had stopped expecting ANYthing from this series, I would be upset that despite the fact the SOLICIT said "Featuring the Spoiler!", the preview blurb in last ish said "Spoiler spoils Penguins plans!" and the COVER had her on it, she wasn't in it. At ALL.
But I don't care, so I'm just waiting for Robin (less than one week away!)
This was boring otherwise. Basically Penguin got owned and Batman beat up Vigilante. That's all that happened, I'm not kidding.

First off, someone at Superdickery discovered this totally awesome DCAU hero generater. I made Steph, naturally.

Robin #173:
I imagine you'll see this coming but...
Ohmygosh ohmygosh ohmygosh.
This was unbelievably awesome. Even my Dad agrees and he isn't even that invested in Steph. (He knows about her because I randomly tell him whenever something new happens with her.
"DAD! There's going to be a Spoiler miniseries!"
"That's...nice."
"IT'S FANTASTIC!"
"Well, um, read it to me when it comes out"
And I've read him stuff with her. Yes, I read comics to him. And Mom. They're both desperate to bond with me despite the fact I spend lots of time with them anyway. Plus, they do like comics (Dad since he was little. )
BUT. Spoiler has to be Steph or a carbon copy of her in personality because her dialogue SCREAMED Stephanie. I loved the opening sequence. It was like "Steph beating up bad guys! It's been so long!" (Plus the narration was hilarious. This was partly because nobody says "chippie" anymore, but do I care?) I adore how Chris Batista draws Spoiler. I am officially a fan of his after seeing it. Her body type is believable (yes, I mean her boobs aren't humongous) and her costume is just...wow. I missed that costume so much, because it's one of DCU's smartest female duds, and Batista really does it justice. It's not like it's painted on and the way he draws the light hitting it in her full page spread...
Spoiler's reaction to NotDanDiDio calling Violet Tim's girlfriend was hilarious and so...her. "How DARE he have a girlfriend even though I've been supposedly dead for more than a year!" She's always been the jealous type. Also, she was using the bionic ear she used in her debut in 1993! Yes, I noticed that immediately which makes me a huge dork. I was like "STEPH!!!" Also, she has the same motorcycle, it looks like. No, really. I compared it. I think it's supposed to be the same one.
Then heeereee sheeee comes to saaave the daaaay! Totally awesome spread with Tim's slow "Oh...my...God." You can feel his shock. Oh, and apparently Tim can't hit girls or something. Which is weird. Though he has shown signs of that before. (Steph's debut, when he ripped off her mask he was like "OMG! A GIRL!" and then Steph hit him with a brick.) He's always been the straight laced chivalrous type. AndSteph SPOILER (I'm trying okay, just in case. But come on!) had the same reaction I would to that sort of thing, exasperation and "You are unbelievably stupid." And then she kicked Violet in the face, which was awesome. (I think Tim's going to need Steph around just to hit girls for him now. "OH GOD A GIRL! Spoiler?" Spoiler: *sigh* Oooh, Casstoon idea!)
Tim naturally thought Spoiler was an impersonator.(I'm assuming this denial is why he didn't recognize her voice. Either that or Dixon forgot that detail for plot convenience) and then came the RAGE. Which was awesome and long overdue. Tim can apparently hit girls just fine if he thinks they're dissing Steph. And his "desecrated the memory of someone I loved!" Man, that line was so...perfect. It's like, FINALLY. (Seriously, Spoiler better hope she's Steph, because if not, Tim is going to beat the crap out of her. Even if it's a friend of his, he'd at least make them ditch the costume, and since I don't see any costume ditching in the solicits...) And Spoiler says Tim's name! And there it ends on an annoying cliffhanger.
I cannot believe I have to wait a whole month!
Stupid comics. Stupid me for getting into a medium rife with cliffhangers.
Oh and in case you couldn't tell, 5/5
Gotham Underground #7
No Spoiler. But the solicit promises some Spoiling of Penguins plans by her in the next ish! Yay!
So Eddie was pretty awesome. Dick was pretty useless. The Leslie thing baffles me. Huntress was on crack or something because she was way too happy. Yay Cass! Oh, did anyone notice Huntress killed a girl by throwing her in the path of the bullets? I thought she decided to keep the lid on that sort of thing in BoP? And Cass was standing right there. And seemed okay with it. WEIRD.
Batman vs. Vigilante. I could care less.
3/5
Batman and the Outsiders #7
So, good, solid issue. Sadly a lack of Cass. BUT, she's going to rescue the team with the Soultaker, which is great.
Ollie switched between endearing and annoying. I admit, Grace's line to him (before she tripped him) made me laugh. Metamorpho is awesome too. Poor Sapphire.
Artwork was gorgeous as usual.

Okay, I've been buying a lot of comics lately with tons of interesting stuff happening but haven't reviewed them.
SO NOW I WILL.
Last week:
Teen Titans Year One #3:
Man, I am still amazed that a comic this cute and funny and generally JOY FILLED, yet not aimed at three year olds, got through DC's angst radar. Aqualad continues to be freakin' adorable and awesome, against all logic. Wonder Girl is really kickass and she has the power of super tears that smite her friends! (And how hilarious was Aqualad randomly drinking her tears?) Kid Flash is just distilled awesome in a can (I love when in an attempt to show Robin HE has cool stuff too, he randomly zooms home and grabs his TURTLE, doubtless the new team mascot)
In fact, generally awesome moment's list:
-Aqualad tasting Wonder Girl's super-tears with a curious expression
-Robin giving WG a handkerchief with LITTLE YELLOW BATS monogrammed on it
-Kid Flash and his turtle
-Aqualad jumping up and down and clapping when Robin tells him to go with KF
-Kid Flash and Aqualad's dialogue while they sort of hide behind a statue and watch Robin sneak up on Wonder Woman
KF: Take that, Wonder Woman!
Aqualad: Robin's COOL!
Then when she throws a pillar at them and KF pushes Aqualad out of the way
KF: I just saved your butt! What were you going to do, commandeer a water fountain?
Aqualad: Oh, like going fast is all that!
-Aqualad's high pitched girly scream for the issue....when Batman just LOOKS at him.
A couple problems I had:
Wow, Wonder Woman went down easy. I guess it's the typical mind-controlled-heroes-can't-use-powers-r ight since it's the same with Flash and Green Arrow and um, Aquaman. But Batman, of course, was this huge problem. Because, you know, despite being up against a girl with the strength, speed and stamina of ten thousand people and someone who can run at lightspeed...a arrow guy....um, underwater guy...and his own sidekick...Batman will still win. Because he is invincible somehow. But I can fanwank that the antithesis somehow focused extra power into him now that the other heroes were unconcious...and that when KF bashed into Batman's arm it was because he was actively slowing down, trying NOT to take Batman's arm off because that wouldn't be nice, and slowed down too much...
Other problem was the random Batdickery to poor Robin despite the mind control being lifted. But I think that might be a plot point, since the solicit for the next issue says Robin is missing, so KF attempts to take over the leader post (hilarity ensues, I'm sure) Maybe Batman's still under the mind control and they have to rescue Robin! That would be so cool! Anyway, mostly this book was a LOT of fun, and I adore the art, and can't wait for the next issue. Amy Wolfram has managed to inject the same amount of fun and superhero-y goodness here she did to her episodes of the TT animated show. Karl Keshl is a god.

Raven #1
It was suprisingly decent. I didn't mind Damion Scott's art as much as I thought, it seemed to suit the feel of the book better than I imagined. The writing was okay as well. It was nothing spectacular or groundbreaking, and I've never liked Comics!Raven as much as I do Animated!Raven, but the mystery seems interesting enough, so I think I'll pick up the next issue and see where this goes.
3.5/5
Supergirl #25
Weird. Even the solicit for the next issue in the back said "Wow, that was weird!" So at least it was on purpose. I share the same complaints with others that Kara really needs to get herself a decent supporting cast and stable status quo before we go all time-traveling dystopian future. We still don't know who Kara IS, and maybe that's what this arc is trying to say. Maybe all this will end with her realizing she's different for Superman, and that she needs to be stable. I dunno. I'll stick around. But I think at this point, Supergirl would benefit from a relaunch, and some serious retooling.

Booster Gold #7
Good, as usual. I love the interaction between Beetle and Booster, it feels so...at home. Though I do wonder, if OMACS are so powerful, how did they not kill Mike and Ted with that first blast? Why stun? I wish I'd read more JLI so I could get more of the references (I will someday, don't worry) but I'd read a whole issue of Booster being attacked by Power Girl's kitty.

Wonder Woman #18
Wonder Woman decided to go out with Nemesis. And then the internet exploded.
However, Gail Simone has said over on Scans_daily said she realizes Diana would never get with Nemesis in his current idiotic form, and this is all part of some bigger thing. Simone is a master of the bait and switch, she's been known to make you expect horrible mischaracterization, and then come back completely awesoming you with character development and cool plots- she did this a lot in Birds of Prey, with Dinah's kidnapping, Oracle firing Dinah, ect. So I'm inclined to trust her when she says this will lead to something cool that will explain everything, and I can't wait to see what it is.
And other than that, this issue was amazing. Even the way Diana HANDLED that particular scene was cool, with the Amazonian ritual with shows the Amazon's veiws on love (Yes, there are thorns), her little inner monologue while she kicked Khund ass, Khund girl's fangirling over her (who WOULDN'T??), the statue and Etta Candy. Etta Candy imagines to be equal parts hilarious and cool, like she was in the 40's. And I love the throwback line on the last page, that made my day. This WAS Diana.
Wasn't too fond of the art, someone on scans_daily put it best, Diana looked like a willowy teenager, and Etta still isn't overweight enough. But it was competent and no Wonder thong, and Lopresti will be on soon anyway, SO...

Gotham Underground #6
I decided to keep buying. And it's good, too, because there was a VERY interesting development on the last page. Leslie Thompkins returns! Well, maybe, she could be a hallucination, but why Dick would hallucinate Leslie when he was shot, I don't know. But, does this mean character redemption? Another clue towards the theory that Leslie faked Spoiler's death? I hope so!
And Spoiler made a few appearances, no news on who she is, other than she wasn't very talkative (which isn't like Steph, but if she's undercover...)
And Oracle still managed to locate Bruce and save him for a LAPTOP at STARBUCKS. Yay. That Babs, she adapts.
Also, I've only read the Vigilante's debut in the 80's Teen Titans and those two issues by Alan Moore where there was a sexually abused little girl and it was sad, but while he certainly has no problem shooting criminals, it seems OOC for the one I read about to randomly shoot someone who he believes to be two bit thugs without getting the story. But hey, who cares about consistancy?
Though there's irony that he shot Dick, since his first appearance EVAR had Dick (Robin at the time) lecturing him on why he shouldn't shoot people...and then the mobster Vigilante was SUPPOSED to be shooting pulled a gun and shot at Robin, and Vigilante has to push Dick out of the way...and that Dick sort of inspired Vigilante to be a, uh, vigilante in the first place.
But, Leslie Thompkins! I'm intrigued!

And I got in the mail:
Teen Titans Go #52
A typical, decent story. Nothing too interesting accept some nice name dropping. We got this kid stealing Kid Flash's powers and becoming...dundundun....JESSE QUICK! I would have preferred Impulse to be name dropped instead, that would have been cool, since it doesn't make since anyway since Jesse is a girl and Robby (the power stealer) you know, wasn't. We also got Lagoon Boy (yay!), Power Boy (boo) and Changling. But the best name the power stealing kid took on? When he stole Robin's abiities (I'm not sure how that works, I mean, it's NOT a power! Can this kid steal people's piano playing skills as well?) and became...THE PROTECTOR! Who's the Protector? Well a LOOOONNNG time ago when I was looking around Titans Tower. com (I had JUST gotten into the animated Titans) I saw this.

1983 saw the publication of a very special Teen Titans book. It made its debut, not on newsstands, but as part of a kit distributed to schools around the country. The kit was co-produced by DC Comics, Inc., and the Keebler Company for use in President Reagan's drug awareness campaign. Its goal was to inform schoolchildren...
One problem cropped up with the book as Wolfman and Titans artist George Pérez began work on it: Robin, the leader of The Teen Titans, couldn't be used. "This book was being sponsored by Keebler, and Robin was already licensed by Nabisco. So I came up with a new character, The Protector. We already had the art done, so Dave Manak did all the corrections to turn Robin into The Protector. He looks pretty much as I envisioned him, except where his costume is purple, I had originally wanted black."
Ha ha. So yay, I got an obscure geek reference! It would have been great if the kid had been able to randomly shout "Don't do drugs!" or something, but I assume they're not allowed to mention drugs in the Johnny DC line. But still, that was fun.
Thas 'bout it. Got some other things to talk about, but I'll blog about that later
I guess it's the typical mind-controlled-heroes-can't-use-powers-r
This post will cover solicits, reviews and meaningless small talk...ALL AT ONCE!
First, I am upset. About many things:

They thought the Penguin was bad, but he was nothing compared to Sin Fang! It's an all-out brawl, and Robin, Violet and Spoiler will have to work together if they want to get out alive. By the end of the night, casualties will be counted and the ultimate mystery of Spoiler's true identity will finally be solved!

WHAT??? I have to wait until MAY? MAY? FRIGGIN' MAY? THAT IS LIKE THREE MONTHS FROM NOW OR TWO I DON'T KNOW GAH!
*calms down*
How will my sanity survives this?
Dammit, DC, you are so manipulating me. I know that's what a business does, but it is ANNOYING. I want Steph back NOW. And if the new Spoiler turns out NOT to be Steph after all this and just some other random blue eyed white chick, I will be angry. Because you have found my weak spot. This better be worth it.
I'm glad I saw the solicit before I picked up Robin #171, so I was prepared to be dissapointed. It was a good, solid issue and I felt actual affection for Tim (man, that has not happened in forever. It's official, I think Tim is awesome again. As long as Dixon writes him.) But Steph was only mentioned for two pages and it was just Tim thinking he saw her again and doing that cliche where it turns out to be a purple piece of cloth. ("A flash of purple. Not violet." No, Tim, eggplant. How many times must she tell you?) I expected a bit more with her being on the cover. Damn misleading covers.
*sigh* But I won't hold this against the issue.
4.5/5
(By the way, I do love the artwork in the solicited cover. Though I'm not sure Steph's mask works that way)
The other thing I am upset about is Will Pfiefer is taking over Blue Beetle for a bit. All I know about Pfiefer is he did Catwoman, which people say is good, and also Amazons Attack, which is of course, atrocious.
All I know is I don't want John Rogers to leave. Even for a little while. What if he leaves forever? I'm just so protective of Jaime, I want him to keep being awesome, and Rogers brings such a unique voice...man, I'm just worried.
*sigh* Come back quick, John.
Onto happier topics. Batman and the Outsiders was pretty good. Cass's dialog was on, and she was shown as a very competent martial artist for the first time in well, forever. Sure, Green Arrow got a shot in, but it was pretty clear she kind of let him do that, and she was the better martial artist. And arrow dodging and working out your problems through violence! That's my girl! And Ollie decided he liked Cass, so I won't have to put up with his dickery in the future. Towards Cass anyway. Maybe.
And the art is freaking gorgeous. I'd buy this just for the art. I love the way the guy draws Cass, and Ollie and Katana and everyone. The action sequences are awesome.

Wonder Girl #6
Surprisingly, this fell kind of flat for me. I like the interaction between Cassie and Diana, and this is still the best Cassie characterization we've gotten since Young Justice but...well...it didn't really come together. #2 and #3 were really this mini's high points, I absolutely freaking loved those two issues and loved Cassie in them, but then it was kinda like "Um, fight? Rarr?" So. Still, decent miniseries. I would really love for Cassie to get an ongoing. I think Torres would be great on it, and she deserves some major rehabilitation, which he can offer.
And "Sisterhood of the Star Spangled Pants" made me laugh. But a lot of it was just people explaining stuff, and "Oh, must go on quest", so a very flat ending.

Birds of Prey #115
I didn't think it was possible, as I like them both, I now want Misfit and Black Alice both to die, quite horribly. And Sean McKeever? ANTI DEPRESSANTS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY. They are supposed to perk you UP, not mellow you out. I mean, I've been on anti depressants for years. Do I seem mellow to you? Didn't think so. Whatever diagnosis you could put on what Lori had wrong with her, it wasn't depression. Depressed people do not go out and beat up drug dealers. They don't have the energy for that. They can't bring themselves to get pissed off like Lori did. Her DAD, who was missing work and moping around the house and having Lori take care of him, HE was the typical depressed guy. And then you say HE made HER take the anti depressant meds? HA, I don't think so, unless that was a cover for him hocking happy pills.
In fact, I think the thing that would have helped Lori the most is NOT medication, unless it was some meds for anxiety, but THERAPY and LOTS OF IT. Grief counseling. You know, for her grief? Over her Mom? Who died of a drug overdose? Which makes it pretty unlikely Lori would take meds, and yes, I know that was mentioned she had a hard time doing that because of that, it's still not something she would do.
McKeever, do not write about things you don't know shit about. When you do research, actually TALK to someone ON the medication. If you had called me, I could have straightened you out in two minutes. For god's sake, Google exists for a reason.
Geez.
Yeah, so Misfit was totally emo here, and she called Lori emo which just adds to the hilarity. At least Babs did not break any bones.
McKeever at least writes a decent Zinda. But Huntress is not as inexperienced as he makes her out to be. And oh look, brain washing. Yawn.
Tony Bedard, don't let me down. For you must save this title.

I think that's it. Yeah, sure is. Now, feast your eyes on this lovely Wonder Woman cover in the solicits.

Oh yes. I am drooling. Clearly, Lopresti was an excellent choice for this title.
Oh, and Spoiler's going to keep playing a role in Gotham Underground, so looks like I have to keep getting it. Damn my Steph addiction (I sure am damning things a LOT in this post)
So, meaningless small talk. I am on a major Avatar: The Last Airbender kick right now. Which of course means Nickelodean is not showing it for some reason. But I recently got the first and second season DVD's, and watched the whole third season, so...HOW CAN ONE SHOW BE SO GOOD? I have fallen hard. I mean, I was sort of into it before, but now I'm hardcore.
Love. So much.
Also, I have about four/five pages of the War of the Wild done. Maybe I'll post him. But I don't think anyone cares, so meh.
My ranting to no one is done! On to other things!

HOW DARE THEY RE-CANCEL TTG AFTER HOW HARD I WORKED TO SAVE IT????
Okay, got that out of my system. The news that TTG is being canceled, AGAIN, after issue 55, and after how hard I worked to save it, makes me sad. I would have appreciated a little more warning than getting a letter in the mail telling me my subscription is being replaced with Tiny Titans after #55 (and yeah, really great job convincing me Tiny Titans isn't replacing TTG, DC.)
Well, I guess all I can do is send Paul Levitz a letter. I'm not really up for another huge campaign that will only end with me getting screwed over again. It's a shame, that's all.
Okay, happier subjects...reviews!
Wonder Woman #17
Woo Woo! This was fantastic! Diana was truly badass! I mean, she painted a W on her face in her OWN BLOOD!!!! That is amazing. And Etta Candy got two pages at the end, right, and she was PERFECT. She called Diana "Holiday Gal!" Yay Marston references! And she glomped Diana, AND she knows WW's secret identity and is helping her protect it through secret agent badassery. Etta Candy is BACK, baby!
Anyway, I can't think of much more to say than the story with Alkyone was very intriguing, and I'm interested in the plot this has set up. And Hippolyta has been redeemed, at last.
Gail has rocked the house once again. Can't wait for next issue

Booster Gold #0
So, I'm not really sure why the zero hour crossover was necessary, as the issue could have easily progressed without that, but this definitely had some classic moments. My favorite was when Ted told Jaime he'd be honored to call him Blue Beetle. Awwww...I mean, we always knew Ted would be proud of Jaime, he's have to be insane not to be, but now it's official. And Dan's "Jaime, we're five grown men dressed in bright colors in a clear plastic bubble against a rainbow background. They saw us." That just made me a fan of Dan Garrett. And I've never actually read anything with him in it that's not a flashback, besides this.
And at least the "Dan remembering" problem is solved. Ted took the fact he's supposed to be dead rather well. I'd have all these questions. Maybe he was saving them for later. I guess Ted's used to weird shit.
Also, liked how Booster's origin was expanded while still staying faithful to the original, um, origin.
Who knows what's going to happen with the OMACs. Hope Ted pull through.

Egh. Blood. Gore. Joker kills people. Boooring.
It appears the Penguin is responsible for the Spoiler person, and the identity of the girl in it remains a mystery, as a blank puzzle piece covers her head. It seems less likely it's Steph though. I wonder why the heck the Penguin wants to dress someone as Spoiler. He does have a history with her, but only when she was Robin. Though I guess since her identity is public now (stupid War Crimes) he knows the female Robin was Spoiler. But seriously, why. That's the only thing that has be considering picking up next issue, and it will probably turn out to be something really stupid. Maybe I'll just wait for scans.

BUT, Robin #171 comes out NEXT week, and promises to be Spoiler-tastic! Also, Batman and the Outsiders with Cass! I can't wait!
...*waits*

So, because I'm lazy and waited too long I'm going to have to give my thoughts on the comics this week and the solicits all in one post. Buckle up!
*SQUEEEEEAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL LL* Oh my God, this ups the possibility of Steph coming back like a billion. I mean, SPOILER! And I doubt it's someone ELSE being Spoiler, because Robin wouldn't become romantically involved with someone in a Spoiler costume who isn't Steph...
Unless "caught between" means this new Spoiler is evil...
No, Chuck Dixon wouldn't do that. I refuse to believe that...
... Dammit, why isn't it Febuary 20th, I have a feeling that issue will have my answers!
Ted is still alive here. This is good.
Om nom nom YJ-style Cassie in TTG! Here costume looks A FREAKIN' DORABLE!
And Om nom nom Titans on Paradise Island!
Okay, onto reviews.
Wonder Woman #16
This was awesome of course. Though I find it hard to be concerned for Hippolyta's fate when she just got rezzed, AND the note on the issue preceding this said "takes place before Countdown #30" and Hyppolyta's very much alive in Countdown currently. She'll be fine.
But my fave moments are when that Nazi make fun of Wonder Woman's "scary bondage rope" and Diana comes and is like "Is this what you wanted, wretch?" with her lasso and the Nazi is all "Agh, no, not sexy!" Not only a funny reference to Marston's...eccentricity, but a great rebuttal to the stuff that's been going on concerning Diana's sexuality...Playboy and whatnot, though this was scripted before that, I know.

Blue Beetle #23
FREAKING. AWESOME. WOWWWWWW...
From Jaime's comment about the Titans to his interaction with his family (woobie, ah) to the joke about Booster Gold to the Scarab speaking english and the heartbreaking and terrifying ending....WOW. This is comics, what comics should be.
It just makes me so angry people aren't buying this. If we want DC to change, we need to show support for books like this. I just wish I knew what to do.
Maybe I'll convince some freinds to buy it, though most don't follow superhero comics.
Man...just...wow.

TTG #51
I LOVED this. A perfect cap to "Things Change". FINALLY. What a nice Terra origin as well. And Beast Boy! Such a woobie! I loved how li'l Terra seemed to hate her frilly dress, that girl was such a tomboy. The art was fantastic. Man, this filled me with love.

Teen Titans #55
Wow. Good thing Wonder Woman, Blue Beetle and TTG provided me with so much win to balance out this suck. Let's see.
Cassie: Kara, I kick you off the team because I realize I only like you because you remind me of Conner!
Kara: WTF?
Tim: WTF?
Cassie: SHUT UP! I'm trying to get over Conner! Even though I already did that in my miniseries! Everyone who reminds me of Conner must die, this is a healthy way of dealing with my grief! By the way Tim, we're breaking up.
Tim: ...
Miss Martian: *angst*
Rose: *flirts with Jaime*
Jaime: I have a girlfriend....
Eddie: Look, he's totally hitting on Rose!
Jaime: Helllllooo? I just said I didn't want her to flirt with me!
Tim: You are not nearly angsty and bitchy enough to be on this team, Jaime. Sorry.
Jaime: Okay, then. You guys are clearly too ineffective to help me against the reach. Bye.
Dreadbolt: Why are we even trying to take down these guys? They never get any crime fighting done anyway!
I'm glad Tim and Cassie broke up though. Now he can mack with Steph when she gets rezzed.

Only two pages of Spoiler-person and we didn't find out her identity! Rip off!
The rest didn't interest me at all.
