I'm not really happy with Cass's reason for leaving either, but I honestly can't be that mad about it (even as much as I love Cass's "I fight for this" with the touching of the Bat symbol.)

Because a) I'm assuming she's going to show up again later and b) at least it isn't "I AM EVIL BECAUSE MY FATHER IS EVIL."

I'm more worried that the conversation between Babs and Steph at the beginning of next issue is going to be Babs trying to fire Steph. I will be sad, especially as Cass gave Steph her blessing.

This is still better than Beechen! (My standards, how they have fallen.)

The bits I've seen (Has NOT bought the issue yet) don't look TOO bad. I'm still hoping to see a rotating team of 'Batgirls' with Steph, Misfit and Cass.

Think of it this way - Cass is safe now, where no one can hurt her, along with Cissie, Greta, and other characters too cool for current DC editorial.

When a character is treated this badly, limbo is almost a blessing, because things can't get any worse. :/

I am so conflicted. I've always wanted the best for Stephanie and SWEET! her own title...but

Who will be my Spoiler? Who will be the Bat-family outsider that ticks them off? Don't get me started on how losing Cass as Batgirl will tear out my heart.

As much as I hate Cass being shoved out the door, I do not have enough willpower to not buy this title.

You just can't leave a good thing alone, can you? You keep screwing around with poor Cass, giving her to a writer who doesn't get her, and as much as I love Steph (and I do love Steph very much), Cass needs a better reason for giving up the cowl. She really does.

Oh, Didio. You need to go someplace else, because you've been doing this to EVERYBODY for ages.
I blame him for most of these problems, and I hope that Cass gets to be a supporting character, given her friendship and history with Steph, and hopefully gets another book of her own, because her just stopping being a superhero is....not her.

But yay, Steph is Batgirl! I'm gonna miss the eggplant costume and all the puns that come from her name, but...at least she gets her own book, finally.
And maybe she could become friends with Misfit and have awesome teamups?

Ack! Yeah, I'm not sure how I feel about this yet. I like Steph but I'm disappointed to see Cass leaving and her departure handled so off-handedly. I was really hoping she'd stay around to help Steph. And there's some real bad writing at some points in the second half of the issue.

Dude. DUDE. While I am pretty annoyed with how Cass just sorta... took off... I SERIOUSLY like the overall writing in the book, how Stephanie is perceived and depicted. I personally have high hopes for the book, the heck with what everyone is saying on s_d. Anything can be redeemed at a later time. Editorial will have some SERIOUS retconning to do when it comes to Cass. And I have hopes that it will happen. But Steph has been needing some retconning of her own for years upon years now and I for one am happy with the first issue overall.
