Okay, having seen the Wondy movie.

wonder woman
I loved the fight scenes. I loved Artemis. I loved Alexa. I loved the Amazon Badassery. I loved the zombies and Amazons comin' to the rescue. I loved the animation. I loved Diana. I loved Hippolyta. I loved Diana teaching the little girl to fight. I loved how natural most of the dialogue seemed. I loved the character designs (Except for Ares. And Diana could have been a bit more muscular. And...well, we'll get to the most infamous one in a minute). I loved the whole epic feel of it. And I loved some of the humor.

And Cheetah. FUCK YEAH.

Now, things I hated.

*Etta Candy. WHAT THE FUCK. What. the. fuck. Who in the hell thought that was a good idea. Include a stereotype for Diana to combat, fine. But why in the fucking hell would you be inspired to name that...that THING Etta fucking Candy. On nsd they put it best- that is like having Jim Gordon show up and be a dumb cop who gets killed withing five seconds. What the hell. I want to throttle whoever made that decision. I'm not even exaggerating. They need to be punched in the face. And yes, this is the infamous character design. They made her freaking anorexic, WHY.

*Steve saving Diana. Steve landing a punch on Diana. (though I actually assume that was Diana testing him out a little, not wanting to hurt him) And Steve's bullshit. Opening doors? Seriously, what the fresh hell does that have to do with anyfreakingthing Steve. NOTHING. That is it. That is some writer throwing in their own personal agenda. Some writer who should not be working on Wonder Woman. Some writer who should be slapped. Slapped with a door. As I said in my last post: Wondy should not be about any gender war shit. It is about women being awesome. Period. If some writer is so insecure in his masculinity he can't deal with that, get off the freaking boat and get someone who has none of those issues and a feminist perspective (uterus is optional, but may or may not help). Persephone's line about not having a family? Shit. Utter shit. The Amazons are her family. And once again the implication women need a family to be complete. Nice message for a Wonder Woman movie.

*"It's not polite to hit a lady." That made no sense in context. I'll assume she was being sarcastic.

*I was hoping for the climax similar to the Perez comic, with Ares and the lasso of truth, because it was so very cool. And so very Wondy. And made sense. Ah well.

*Where was the peace stuff? True, it can be overdone, but handled well, it gives a new dimension to the message. Maybe next movie?

*The implication Diana went back to be with Steve, not because of the mission. Gag me.

Annoying stuff aside, I did very much like it, and hope for a sequel. This time, no gender war bullshit, and for god's sake, FIX ETTA. Have Gail Simone write the script! And make it ALL about Wondy vs. Cheetah.

Finally, I think it's time to say yay for a Wondy movie. Whatever it's flaws, it's about damn time Diana got well...something. And something good and entertaining at that. Viva la Wonder Woman!

Bad news, I think I have a cough.

Well, she only shows up for 5 seconds at least.

Despite all the issues, I really like the movie, and I'd say it's worth 25.

Etta is only in it for about a minute. I really enjoyed it... there were a couple eye rolling moments but it was mostly pretty good. The animation is really nice and theres lots of amazon badassery.

Definitely worth the price. You raise valid points of piss-offery. My only things were Diana's fluxuating strength level. The lack of explanation for the Invisible Jet, Steve barely blinked at that. We don't have T.V. but we came up with the tech for a jet. The wierdest uses of blood, sword: no, altar: yes, decapitation: no, eye-slice: yes.
Who punched the mirror?

Steve's comment on getting her some new clothes was cute, goes back to my comment on your other post. Etta's character in the movie displayed the opposite end of the spectrum from an amazon, which for newbies to the world of Wonder Woman is helpful to see. Not fair to her roots though.
I do think that for the beginning of the Wonder Woman story you need the gender nonsense; a society of immortal women with their last memory as part of the world was a bloody and horrific battle with a male god and his army of men/male monsters. I don't think Diana was raised with a positive outlook on men, she will jump down any guys throat with even the smallest amount of chauvinism. We affect our children with our own hate and anger. Persephonie's last words may not speak for all Amazons, but I know many strong women who've wanted to be mothers since they themselves were children. On Themyscira you have to have a deal with Zeus to be a mother. It makes sense if anyone else wants that - a man is nessecary (even if only for just genetic material, ugh). The next movie can now jump passed all that and just have Diana beat the living tar out of Cheetah, it just needed to be acknowledged. Diana can now see Steve's door openings as corny, not an insult to her honor.

I talk to much, the movie was good. Everyone watch it. :P
